OVERVIEW
Our client — a leading Japanese bank operating in New York — is seeking a Credit Analyst to join its Corporate Finance Group. Reporting to the VP/Manager, you will be responsible for credit analysis and the internal approval process for lending transactions primarily to Japanese corporates. Working closely with Relationship Managers, you will assess credit risk, assign internal ratings, and help maintain a sound, well-managed credit portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Credit Analysis & Approval
- Conduct comprehensive credit analysis for lending transactions, including financial statement analysis (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow), industry review, and business risk assessment
- Assign and maintain internal credit ratings
- Prepare credit application memos and manage the internal approval process end-to-end
Portfolio Monitoring
- Monitor existing borrowers through periodic credit reviews and ongoing performance analysis
- Identify early warning signs and escalate credit concerns as appropriate
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with Head Office and risk teams to present transactions and report developments
- Provide structuring insights and recommendations to front-office and Relationship Manager teams
- Support adherence to internal credit policies and risk management frameworks
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of experience at a bank or financial institution
- Strong financial statement analysis skills (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow)
- Business-level English proficiency (verbal and written)
- Business-level Japanese proficiency (native or near-native preferred)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in corporate banking
- Familiarity with Japanese corporate clients and business culture
- Knowledge of internal rating models and credit policies
- Understanding of the U.S. market and regulatory environment
- Professional certifications: CPA, CFA, or FRM

- クレジット申請メモの作成と、内部承認プロセスのエンド・ツー・エンド管理
ポートフォリオ・モニタリング
- 既存借入先の定期的な信用審査・パフォーマンス分析を通じた継続モニタリング
- 早期警戒サインの察知と、必要に応じた適切なエスカレーション
ステークホルダーとの連携
- 本店およびリスク部門との連携を通じた案件説明・状況報告
- フロントオフィスおよびリレーションシップ・マネージャーへのストラクチャリング提案・助言
- 内部クレジットポリシーおよびリスク管理フレームワークの遵守サポート
必須要件
- 銀行または金融機関における実務経験3年以上
- 財務諸表分析スキル（B/S・P&L・CF）
- ビジネスレベルの英語力（口頭・文書）
- ビジネスレベルの日本語力（ネイティブまたはそれに準じるレベル歓迎）
- 高い分析力・論理的思考力
