Accountant / Future Accounting Manager

A Japanese manufacturing company in Michigan is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its Accounting Department.

The company has approximately 150 employees, including manufacturing personnel, and approximately five Japanese employees, including expatriates.

This position is responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including daily accounting operations, month-end and year-end closing, budgeting, cash forecasting, financial reporting, and audit coordination.

Candidates without prior management experience may also be considered if they have the experience and potential to advance into an Accounting Manager role in the future.

Japanese-English bilingual ability is required.

Position Summary

The Accountant will oversee and perform the company’s accounting functions and report directly to the President.

This position does not currently have any direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and perform the daily operations of the Accounting Department

Support month-end and year-end closing processes

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

Process cash receipts and maintain related records

Maintain the general ledger

Handle payroll-related accounting and utility payments

Support treasury and cash management activities

Prepare and manage budgets

Prepare cash flow forecasts

Perform revenue and expense variance analysis

Reconcile capital assets and fixed asset activity

Reconcile bank accounts and other account statements

Process check runs and vendor payments

Maintain records related to debt and other financial obligations

Monitor and analyze accounting data

Prepare financial reports and statements

Coordinate and complete annual audits

Provide recommendations regarding accounting and financial matters

Improve accounting systems and procedures

Identify issues and initiate corrective actions

Support the achievement of financial and accounting objectives

Establish and maintain accounting files and transaction records

年収最大約120,000ドル

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Relevant professional accounting experience

Experience as an Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, Finance Manager, or in a similar role is preferred

Candidates without management experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong potential for advancement

Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations

Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial closing

Advanced Microsoft Office skills

Experience using accounting software and databases

Ability to manage and analyze large amounts of financial data

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines

Japanese-English bilingual communication skills

Minimum working proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, and participate in basic conversations

Preferred Qualifications

Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience working for a Japanese company or in a multicultural business environment

Experience coordinating annual audits

Experience with budgeting, cash forecasting, and variance analysis

Fixed asset accounting experience

Experience improving accounting systems and procedures

Interest in advancing into an Accounting Manager position

Compensation

Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

Candidates with Accounting Manager experience: up to approximately $120,000

Candidates without management experience: approximately $85,000–$90,000

Work Environment

Temperature-controlled office and manufacturing facility

The employee may occasionally be required to enter the manufacturing area

Safety glasses, safety gloves, non-slip work shoes, and ear protection may be required in designated areas

Physical Requirements

Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds

Ability to read and analyze documents and information on a computer screen

Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, verbally, and in writing

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
