A growing consumer goods manufacturer is seeking a Sales Key Account Manager / New Business Development professional to oversee assigned sales territories and/or channels and drive sustainable revenue growth. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic growth plans with key retail partners, expanding distribution, strengthening promotional effectiveness, and building strong client relationships. The position works cross-functionally across internal teams to support business objectives and drive profitable growth. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, financially driven, and action-oriented, with strong experience managing retail accounts within the consumer products industry. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic growth plans with key retail partners, expanding distribution, strengthening promotional effectiveness, and building strong client relationships. The position works cross-functionally across internal teams to support business objectives and drive profitable growth.
The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, financially driven, and action-oriented, with strong experience managing retail accounts within the consumer products industry.
Develop, execute, and manage strategic sales plans to achieve revenue, profit, and KPI targets
Create short- and long-term joint business plans aligned with customer objectives and company strategy
Grow existing accounts while identifying and securing new business opportunities within assigned territory and channels
Drive distribution expansion, promotional effectiveness, and financial performance across accounts
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing retail partners
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including marketing, operations, and finance
Represent branded and private label product lines within assigned categories
Prepare and maintain accurate sales reports and documentation including:
Forecasting
Promotional planning
Distribution tracking
Trade and ROI analysis
Pricing and customer data
Analyze business performance and market trends to identify growth opportunities
Lead customer meetings and manage follow-up actions for assigned accounts
Coach and develop team members where applicable to support performance and growth
Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
Strategic thinking with strong execution capability
Solid understanding of retailer and consumer marketing concepts
Excellent communication, listening, and presentation skills
Analytical and financially driven decision-making
Strong problem-solving and collaborative approach
Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Position: Sales Key Account Manager / New Business Development
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Compensation: Salary depends on experience in the consumer goods industry. Base salary range: $100,000 – $115,000, plus commission (up to approximately $20,000 annually)
Reports To: Vice President, Sales / New Business Development
Location: Flexible (in-person or remote, with travel as required)

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum 10 years of experience in the consumer products industry
Minimum 10 years of retail account management/customer-facing experience
Strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data analysis tools
Experience with mid- to large-size CPG companies
5+ years of people management experience
Experience managing mid- to large-scale retail accounts
Cross-functional experience across areas such as:
Sales
Consumer marketing
Sales operations
Analytics
Trade marketing
E-commerce
