Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Associate / Senior Associate with 1–5 years of experience in private equity fund investments to join our Private Equity & Debt Investments team.
In this role, you will support the full investment lifecycle—including fund sourcing, due diligence, Investment Committee (IC) presentations, portfolio monitoring, Fund-of-Funds (FoF) operations, and investor communication. You will work closely with general partners (GPs), placement agents, sub-advisors, legal counsel, and operations teams, as well as collaborate with Japanese expatriates within the organization (Japanese language is not required, but comfort working with non-native English speakers is important).

Key Responsibilities
1. Fund Sourcing & Pipeline Development
Identify prospective GPs and private equity funds using proprietary research, sub-advisors’ recommendations, and external databases.
Engage with GPs and placement agents to obtain updates and build long-term relationships.
Prepare pipeline summaries and share insights with internal team members.
2. Due Diligence & Investment Execution
Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence on fund managers (strategy, performance, team, alignment of interests).
Review fund terms, fee structures, and legal documents in coordination with advisors and legal counsel.
Prepare investment recommendation materials and assist in subscription documentation and closing processes.
3. Investment Committee Support
Prepare detailed IC presentation materials.
Present investment opportunities and respond to committee questions.
Track IC feedback and ensure timely follow-up.
4. Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor capital calls, distributions, NAV updates, and quarterly fund reports.
Maintain portfolio tracking tools and internal databases.
Identify deviations or material changes in fund performance and escalate as necessary.
Assist with portfolio reviews and represent the firm in LPAC meetings.
5. Investor Presentation & Communication
Prepare professional materials for investor meetings, including performance updates and prospective investments.
Support investor relations and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
Contribute to investor reports and marketing materials.
6. Fund-of-Funds Operations
Monitor and forecast FoF cash flows.
Coordinate capital activities with fund administrators.
Process contributions, distributions, and review NAVs and financial statements.
Support audits, tax filings, and ensure compliance with fund documents.
7. Strategy Development
Participate in pipeline meetings and investment strategy discussions.
Document meeting outcomes and follow up on action items.
Collaborate with internal teams and advisors to refine strategies based on market conditions.
8. Internal & External Coordination
Work with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure flawless execution of investment processes.
Maintain organized documentation for audits and compliance.
Support Japanese expatriates with English communication as needed.
No Japanese language skills are necessary.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA/Master’s preferred).
1–5 years of experience in private equity fund investments.
Experience in portfolio management, FoFs, or fund operations preferred.
Certifications such as CFA or CAIA are preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and analytics tools.
Understanding of private equity markets and fund structures.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative team player.
Adaptability to Japanese corporate culture (Japanese language not required).
Compensation
Base Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
