Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Research Analyst with 1–5 years of experience in U.S. equity markets to join our Equity Investments team. In this role, you will contribute to the full investment process—conducting fundamental research, building financial models, performing valuation analysis, monitoring covered companies, and preparing materials for Investment Committee meetings. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and will enjoy working closely with portfolio managers, Japanese expatriates, corporate management teams, and external research partners. You will also play a key role in preparing investor-facing presentations and performance updates. Key Responsibilities

1. Equity Research & Investment Analysis
Conduct fundamental research on U.S. listed companies, including business strategy, financials, management quality, and industry dynamics.
Build and maintain financial models (DCF, comparables, sensitivity analysis).
Prepare investment recommendation materials for portfolio managers and the Investment Committee.
Engage with sell-side analysts, research providers, and corporate IR teams.

2. Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting
Track earnings releases, guidance updates, and material news events.
Maintain portfolio databases and internal tracking tools.
Assist with performance attribution and periodic portfolio reviews.

3. Investment Committee Support
Prepare clear and compelling presentation materials, including valuation summaries, risk assessments, and sector outlooks.
Present investment ideas and respond to committee questions.
Track action items and ensure timely follow-up.

4. Trade & Portfolio Operations
Coordinate trade execution with portfolio managers and operations teams.
Monitor and forecast portfolio cash flows.
Support reconciliation, compliance checks, audits, and regulatory filings.

5. Research & Strategy 
DevelopmentPresent investment ideas and participate in research meetings.
Conduct market, sector, and competitive analysis.
Collaborate with internal and external research providers to refine investment strategies.

6. Investor Reporting & Communications
Prepare investor presentations, portfolio updates, and performance summaries.
Support investor relations with timely market and portfolio insights.
Ensure consistent and accurate messaging in investor materials.

7. Risk Management
Monitor macroeconomic, sector-specific, and market risks.
Utilize risk management tools to quantify exposures.
Maintain risk registers and propose mitigation strategies.

8. Internal Coordination
Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, risk, and operations teams.
Communicate effectively in English with Japanese expatriates, providing language support when necessary.


Requirements

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (MBA/Master’s preferred).
1–5 years of experience in equity research, investment management, or related buy-side/sell-side roles.
Experience in stock selection, sector coverage, or supporting PMs is preferred.
CFA designation (or progress toward CFA) is a plus.

Skills & Competencies
Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Barra).
Strong understanding of U.S. equity markets and sector dynamics.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines (especially during earnings seasons).
Detail-oriented, proactive, and team-focused.
Ability to adapt to Japanese corporate culture and communicate effectively with non-native English-speaking expatriates.

Compensation
Base Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 (depending on skills and experience)
Annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance
