A well-established U.S. food manufacturer specializing in traditional Japanese cuisine products is seeking a driven Outside Sales Representative I. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who thrives on developing new business, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to a growing sales organization.
Position Summary
As an Outside Sales Representative, you will play a critical role in expanding our customer base and promoting our seafood and food product lines. You’ll work independently and collaboratively to grow sales, identify market opportunities, and maintain client satisfaction while supporting the company’s continued growth in the food manufacturing sector.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage both existing and new customer accounts to meet sales and profitability goals
- Proactively collect accounts receivable in collaboration with the accounting team and clients
- Identify and develop new business leads using market intelligence, databases, directories, client referrals, and trade events
- Conduct customer needs analysis and create proposals, negotiate contracts, and present tailored product solutions
- Perform regular in-person visits to prospects and clients in the assigned region
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and sales strategies
- Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts and reporting
- Respond promptly to customer issues and deliver effective solutions
- Participate in sales meetings and implement pricing or promotional strategies directed by management
- Share customer feedback with relevant internal departments
- Demonstrate initiative in learning and promoting new product lines
- Willingness to travel 50% or more as required
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Work Locations
One position is based in the New York/New Jersey area (commuting distance required)
Additional hires will be considered in the following states:

Requirements
Qualifications2–5 years of sales experience in the food industry required (excluding candidates with 6+ months of internal training)
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Valid Class C driver’s license
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Competitive, results-driven mindset with strong organizational and negotiation skills
