Our Mission
At Kyoto Kihara Hospital, we are committed to promoting safe and minimally invasive surgical and medical treatments—such as our original K-method—to as many people as possible. By providing care before conditions become irreversible, we aim to help individuals avoid becoming wheelchair-bound or bedridden. Through this, we hope to contribute to extending healthy life expectancy and improving the overall well-being of our community and society.
About Kyoto Kihara Hospital
At our clinic, we treat spinal cord disorders (spinal canal stenosis, ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament, herniated discs, etc.) in the neck, chest, and lower back. We provide consistent support from consultation to surgery and post-operative checkups. In addition, under the slogan "Walk to 100," we also focus on spinal checkups aimed at extending healthy lifespans. If you are suffering from neck or lower back pain, numbness in the hands and feet, or difficulty walking, please come and see us.
idea
"Jishinmyoshu" is a word that comes from Buddhist scriptures, and means to use excellent medical techniques (superior medical techniques to cure illnesses) with compassion (a heart that cares for and is considerate to patients).
Kyoto Kihara Hospital aims to provide medical care that "shares the greatest smiles and joy with patients" by making full use of safe and minimally invasive medical techniques, including the "K-method," based on this "Jishinmyoshu" philosophy.
Basic Policy
With the motto "Medicine is for the people and for the world," we are constantly making our own efforts and studying to provide world-class medical care and nursing.
There is a saying that goes, "Put yourself in someone else's shoes," and this is exactly what happens in the hospital.
We hospital staff always take the question, "What kind of treatment and nursing would you want if you or a family member were to suffer from the same disease?" as our starting point, and today we continue to face illnesses together with our patients.
I want as many people as possible to know about minimally invasive and safe surgeries and treatments, including the K-method.
A major challenge facing Japan and other developed countries as they move towards a super-aging society is how to extend healthy lifespan.
The life expectancy of Japanese people is among the highest in the world, but in today's aging society, the quality of life expectancy, or what is called healthy life expectancy, is becoming an issue. This is because recent statistics have revealed that, on average, men live 9-10 years and women 14-15 years, and in their later years, they are wheelchair-bound, bedridden, or unable to live independently due to dementia, and require some form of medical care or nursing care.
In the future, in developed countries such as Japan, which are heading towards becoming super-aging societies, how to extend healthy life expectancy will be a major issue not only for individuals and their families, but also for the local community and society.
The key to overcoming these challenges is spinal cord disorders, or so-called neck and lower back disorders, which are closely related to aging, posture, and lifestyle habits.
An important factor in overcoming these challenges is "how to reduce the number of people who are wheelchair-bound or bedridden, and enable them to live independent lives and fulfill their lives until the very end." An
important point in this regard is spinal cord diseases, or so-called neck and lower back diseases, which are closely related to aging, posture, and lifestyle habits.
Problems associated with abnormalities in the neck are particularly serious. Unlike the lower back, the nerves in the neck are not divided into a bundle of thin nerves like somen noodles, but remain a single thick rod-like spinal nerve. Therefore, compression of the spinal nerves due to various factors such as deformation and stenosis, and major disorders such as numbness and paralysis of the hands and feet that interfere with daily life, are always back to back.
It is important to receive appropriate treatment, such as surgery, before it is too late.
While you are aware of the numbness and pain in your limbs and go about your life ignoring it, a fall or a rear-end collision can instantly cause severe paralysis or unbearable numbness and pain. If you are unlucky enough to be hit in the wrong place, you run the risk of becoming wheelchair-bound or bedridden for the rest of your life. (This is the case when spinal cord injuries lead to being wheelchair-bound or bedridden.)
In order to prevent such irreversible conditions or until it is too late, if you experience any signs such as stiff shoulders, neck pain, or numbness in the hands, it is important to seek medical attention from a specialist and, if necessary, receive appropriate treatment such as surgery before it is too late.
In Japan, there is a strong fear and preconceived notion that neck or back surgery, especially neck surgery, will not improve the condition or will result in the patient becoming wheelchair-bound or bedridden if the surgery is unsuccessful. As a result, many patients end up falling or bumping into things while trying to avoid or run away, resulting in them becoming wheelchair-bound or bedridden.
I want as many people as possible to know about minimally invasive (low-stress) and safe surgeries and treatments.
Kyoto Kihara Hospital wants as many people as possible to know about minimally invasive (low-stress) and safe surgeries and treatments, including the K-method. We hope that by providing treatment before it is too late, we can save people who are at risk of becoming wheelchair-bound or bedridden, and ultimately extend the healthy lifespan of the community and society.
