Supervisory Responsibility

Depending on engagements or assignments, this position may have supervisory responsibilities over:

Staff (Accounting)

Seniors (Accounting)


Duties and responsibilities

Apply accounting knowledge (obtained through academic training and professional experience) to lead and manage multiple accounting engagements, including maintenance of proper supporting workpaper and reporting in the client-requested format. 

Provide leadership, supervision and support to the engagement team and promote open communication with engagement executives.

Demonstrate a broad, deep understanding of accounting concepts and US GAAP, actively pursue increased knowledge through client assignments, and keep abreast of current accounting developments.

Consult with new clients to set the scope and procedures tailored to their needs. Work with the executives to create a fee proposal.

Understand the client’s business and its ever-changing environment to support their needs. If necessary, offer to modify the scope or procedures. 

Responsible for the time and billing management of the assigned engagements, including optimization of senior and staff utilization.

Actively seek technology that enhances efficiency and/or accuracy of work and promote it. 

Research and interpret accounting guidance on complex issues and questions arising from client transactions.

Build client satisfaction by leading client meetings, providing timely and effective responses to requests and concerns, and providing consultation on all accounting matters.

Serve as main contact to clients. Ensure clients are satisfied with our services and identify opportunities to provide additional professional services.

Coordinate all phases of engagements with engagement executives, including execution of the engagement letter, communicating with the client, staffing requirements, job planning, and scheduling.

Collaborate with tax and payroll team and executives in resolving client issues and make recommendations for any legal, regulatory and accounting issues that arise during engagements.

Work with engagement executives to negotiate fees and manage effective billing and collections.

Develop overall engagement budgets; responsible for billing and realization on assigned clients; explain variances.

Promote positive working relationships within a diverse work environment and ensure all team members are treated with respect.

Monitor engagement team's use of technology and make recommendations for efficiency where appropriate.

Motivate Staff and Seniors; train and coach them to further their professional development.

Review and evaluate Staff and Seniors’ work and provide timely performance feedback.



Requirements


Qualifications

Qualifications include:

Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college/university.

A CPA license.

Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience including at least 2 years of supervisory function.  Minimum 2 years of audit experience in public accounting firm is strongly preferred.

Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Statement on Standards for Accounting and Review (SSARS).

Strong accounting and analytical skills.

Strong computer skills: proficiency in Accounting software, Excel, Word.

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

Working environment

Professional office environment.

Noise level is usually quiet.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment (e.g., computer/laptop, copier/scanner, calculator)
