Boarding Assistant lives in a private apartment in the same gender dormitory with approximately 50 students in each Dormitory House and provides supervision and support for their daily life.
General Position Summary
Boarding Assistant provides supervision and support for high school students on all aspects of students’ dormitory life. Boarding Assistant lives in a private apartment in the same gender dormitory with approximately 50 students in each Dormitory House and provides supervision and support for their daily life.
Boarding Assistant works collaboratively with Head of House and generally works 5-6 days per week including weekend shift while the school is in session, generally from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. Extra work hours may be required according to the school’s needs.
On the contrary, Boarding Assistant will enjoy relatively long breaks between the three terms such as almost 2-months long summer break and approximately 1-month long holiday vacation with pay.
Student Life Support
・Ensure that students follow the daily schedule set by the school in the morning and evening.
・ Be available to students, as necessary, to support their personal, educational and academic needs
・ Provide pastoral care of students in the assigned House, which includes proctoring of sick students
・ Provide supervision to sports activities and evening study hour
・ Ensure all students evacuate from the Resident Hall and clear all rooms during a fire drill
・ Plan and carry out various events held in the Residence Hall (ex. House party, game, etc.)
・ Pick up mail and packages for students from the Administration Office
・ Office desk duty: receipt various requests from students, check students’ sign-in and sign-out
Other & Miscellaneous
・Maintain high ethical standards in the workplace.
・Maintain good communication with other staff, managers & outside contacts.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
A few years of experience at educational institutions is preferred.
CPR, First Aid is preferred. The school provides an opportunity to obtain certificates after employment.
