JOB DESCRIPTION -Deputy General Manager

1. General Position Summary: General Summary

1 ) This position is responsible for managing operations of the office, including implementing corporate policy, overseeing daily operations, supervising personnel, and achieving sales and profit targets for the office.

2. Essential Job Functions:

    Primary Job Functions                                                                                                                                                                               Weight: 70%

1 ) Develops New Business by establishing new accounts and maintaining current accounts.

2)        Ensures Smooth Operations by making sure that office operations function correctly; by establishing guidelines; and by ensuring that Staff perform assigned tasks accurately-

3)        Negotiates Favorable Rates by discussing and bargaining with steamship lines, trucking companies, customers, and MLC for the best rates.

4)        Implements Corporate Goals by executing strategy and managing resources effectively in order to achieve business goals.

5)        Provides Assistance to Head Office by assisting in the yearly budgetary process; and by generating and analyzing monthly financial statements.

6)        Handles Administration of Employees by assisting in the Management of the personnel decision making process (i.e., hiring, firing, and training).

7)        Supervises Staff by monitoring and guiding the Staff in the office, including delegating work, providing regular feedback, and ensuring Staff have the necessary tools to allow them to achieve their business goals; by overseeing work schedules and adherence to policies and procedures; and by issuing assignments based on work flow.

8)        Oversees Accounting and Information Systems by taking responsibility for financial reporting and the office computer newvork-

1)        Complies with Federal, State, and Local Requirements by enforcing adherence to requirements; by filing accurate and timely reports; and by advising General Manager-

2)        Communicates with Customers by exchanging information through telephone, email, fax, business trips; by following-up to ensure delivery, collection, and to settle claims; by entertaining & interacting with potential clients, and current clients, in order to improve the business relationship; and by collecting and supplying technical data and necessary information in order to maintain good customer relations-

3)        Keeps Senior Management Informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports; and by summarizing information and identifying business related trends.

5)          Improves Processes by recommending improvements in Company processes and procedures that increase productivity.

3. Essential Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements & Working Environment

1 ) Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the Staff Member is regularly required to sit and talk or listen.

2) Physical Requirements

The Staff Member is futher required to stand, walk, use hands to pick up, handle or feel and reach with arms- Occasionally, the Staff Member will need to kneel or crouch.

3) Physical Requirements

The Staff Member must be able to read and analyze written information on a computer terminal- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary for this job.

4) Physical Requirements

The Staff Member may regularly lift, carry, push, pull or move objects of at least 15 pounds.

5) Working Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (i.e. working in a office).

6) Working Conditions

The Staff Member must be able to travel on business or work beyond normal work hours as necessary.

Experience/Minimum Qualifications Needed

1)          Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and/or government regulations in English.

2)          Language Skills

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.

3)          Language Skills

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, Staff, clients, customers, and the general public in English.

4)          Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

5)          Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

6)          Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

7)          Reasoning Ability

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Must have the ability to review, assess and understand technical documents, drawings and other documents and engage in discussions internally and with customers.

Some positions must have knowledge of, and experience in, one or more of the following procedures: NVOCC, Customs Clearance, Hazardous Materials Certification and transportation.

Education

1 ) B.A./B-S- in related field or equivalent experience.
