1) APPEARANCE:
- Dress conservatively - business suit. Make
sure your hair is neatly combed, clothes are clean and pressed,
and shoes are polished.
2) INTERVIEW:
- Never be late for an interview. Always
be prompt! Be at least 7 minutes early.
- Take your resume, even if the company where
you are going to have your interview already has it.
- The interview begins when you enter the
reception area. The receptionist is often asked to comment
on your demeanor. The receptionist is observing you
as soon as you walk into the office.
- Sometimes there are more than one person
giving the interview.
- If the interviewer gives you their business
card before the interview, take it with both hands and read
the name and title carefully. Place the business card down
on the table in front of you until your interview is over
and do not forget the card.
- When the interviewer is ready for the interview,
sit with your back straight and at the edge of the chair
and do not cross your legs.
- Some of the interviewers may have difficulty
speaking English, so please be very patient. Speak slowly.
If you do not understand what they have said, ask them to
repeat the question very politely. Do not respond by saying
"What?" or "Hah?" because often they
are very insecure about their English.
- Ask questions. Ask about the company, the
company's history, job duties, etc.
- Be yourself. Honesty and sincerity is the
best way to show your personality.
- Show that you are interested and want to
obtain the job position. Keep in mind, you can reject a
job offer, but you need to be able to get the job before
you get the opportunity to reject the offer.
- During the first interview, never ask about
benefits, salary, or vacation policies.
- At the end of the interview, if you decide
that you really would like the job position, let the interviewer
know that you are interested in the position.
- Always thank the interviewer at the end
of the interview and you should also thank the receptionist.
- Don't forget to call your MAX consultant
after your interview.
